- The Bengals got the offensive barrage started as Michal Marquez (Upland, CA/Yarmouth Mariners) scored on a power play opportunity.
- Meure scored shortly after to extend the Bengals lead and give Buffalo State early control.
- The Thunder were able to score a power play goal near the end of the period to cut the Bengal led in half.
- Early in the second, Trine scored to even things at 2-2. Buffalo State responded less than one minute later as Kwestel scored for the Bengals.
- Austin Micale (Hamilton, NJ/Nashville Spartans) got in on the action later in the period as he sniped a shot to open the Bengals lead to 4-2.
- Ethan Perrault (Tipp City, OH/Johnstown Tomahawks) gave the Bengals a 5-3 lead.
- Trine added a pair of goals near the end of the period to stay alive as the score was 5-4 heading into the final 20 minutes of regulation.
- Halfway into the period, Trine found the back of the net again to even the score. Cumberworth made multiple crucial saves down the stretch to force the game into overtime.
- Michael DiPietra scored the game-winning goal in overtime for Trine.
- Overall, the Bengals were outshot 35-29 by the Thunder.
FOR THE FOES
- Brendan Hill netted a hat trick for the Thunder.
- Kyle Kozma and Ronnie Petrucci combined for 24 saves in goal.
