BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team dropped their final matchup of 2024 with a 6-1 loss to #6 Trine this afternoon at the Ice Arena.

• Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk) scored the lone goal for the Bengals while Jason Kwestel (Rockaway, NJ/Valley Wildcats) and Austin Micale (Hamilton, NJ/Nashville Spartans) earned the assists.
• Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) and Drew Doran (Orchard Park, NY/Utica University) combined for 32 saves in goal in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Kiriakov got the Bengals on the board first with a power play goal early in the first.
• Trine responded quickly with a pair of goals at the end of the period to take a 2-1 lead.
• The Thunder added two more goals in the second period to grow their lead to three.
• In the final 20 minutes of action, the Thunder took advantage of a pair of Bengal penalties with two power play goals.
• Trine killed the clock in the final minutes to secure the weekend sweep.

 
FOR THE FOES

• Sean Henry led the Tunder with a pair of goals and a pair of assists.
• Cristian Wong-Ramos earned 18 saves in goal for the win.
