HOW IT HAPPENED
- Returning home after a short trip to Cortland, the Bengals looked changing their season momentum on home ice. Entering the first period, the Lakers took control early, getting on the board in the third minute of play. After some back and forth play in the neutral zone, and an attack from the Bengals on the offense end, the Lakers would respond back with two goals separated by four minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. The Bengals were outshot eight to seven in the period.
- In the second period, the Bengals looked for a strong response to the Lakers attack, but after five minutes of play, the Lakers would notch another goal and take a 4-0 lead early in the second period. Kudos to the Bengals though, as they responded well to the Lakers attack, keeping them off the board for the remainder of the period and entered the second intermission with a four-goal deficit. The Bengals and the Lakers each had seven shots on net in the period.
- The third period saw the Bengals put forth an attacking effort, keeping the puck in the Lakers zone throughout the period. The Lakers defense did their jobs, keeping the Bengals off the board in the period, however. With the period ending, the Lakers would once again squeak one by the goalie, netting their fifth goal of the net, and giving the Bengals a home-ice loss. The Bengals outshot the Lakers nine to six in the period.
FOR THE FOES
- Simone Bednarik and Elizabeth Cooley each finished the day with a goal and assist, while Helen Vandamme, Erika Paraenti and Sophia Kyrkostas would score for the Lakers.
