HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Coming off the Winter Break, the Buffalo State Women's Hockey team looked to begin the new year in winning fashion. Starting a back-to-back road trip against Wilkes University, the Bengals entered today's matchup with fresh legs, and it showed in the first period. The Bengals came out skating strong, attacking the Colonels defense early and putting shots on the net. The Colonels would respond back with pressure in the Bengals offensive zone but credit to Auge and the Bengals defense keeping the Colonels off the board and going into the first intermission tied at 0. The Bengals outshot the Colonels ten to eight in the period.
  • In the second period, the Bengals would finally get on the board with a goal from Silva in the first five minutes of play. This lead wouldn't last too long though for the Bengals, with the Colonels answering back with a goal before the ten-minute mark of play. Tied at one goal apiece, both teams would pick up play with strong attacks from each side. However, neither team were able to find the game-leading goal, as they'll go into the second intermission tied at 1-1. The Bengals outshot the Colonels ten to nine in the second period.
  • In the third period, both teams came out the gate with high energy, peppering one another with shots on goal. With play racing back and forth on the ice, both teams hunted for the game-winning goal but to no avail as this game was heading to overtime! The Bengals outshot the Colonels 12 to eight in the third period.
  • In overtime, play barely began before Running-Rabbit found the back of the net within the first 13 seconds, giving the Bengals the win and their first for 2025.
FOR THE FOES
  • Haylee Bouchard scored the lone goal for the Colonels.
  • Audrey Milne made 32 saves in net on 34 shots in this matchup.
