ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team earned a pair of wins against Bard and Purchase College this afternoon in a tri-match at the Stevenson Athletic Center.
MATCH ONE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 3, Bard – 1
SET SCORES: 25-14, 21-25, 25-14, 25-23

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Christopher Laboy (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Lafayette) led the Bengals with 16 kills while also tallying eight digs.
- Gavin Wilczewski (Elma, NY/East Aurora) chipped in 11 kills and three service aces in the win.
- Jackson Stang (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) dished out 44 assists and led the Bengals with nine digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State held the advantage early with a narrow 10-8 margin.
- Following a 5-0 run from the Bengals, Buffalo State was able to pull away and eventual dominate the rest of the first set.
- The Bengals jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in the second set.
- Bard made a late push in the second half of the set to take the win.
- Buffalo State retook control in the third set and dominated scoring five of the last six points.
- Bard took the lead late in the fourth set, however, the Bengals rallied to score seven of the final eight points to secure the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Angel Obergh led Bard with 17 kills while Georgi Chikolov dished out 32 assists.

SET SCORES: 25-9, 25-17, 25-12

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Jake Woelfel (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) led the Bengals with 11 kills.
- Stang and Ben Malicki (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) combined for 28 assists.
- Woelfel and Wilczewski each had five digs for Buffalo State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals had complete control in the opening set with a 9-0 run to take the win.
- Despite the strong start from the Bengals, Purchase rallied back in the second set 7-1 run to take the lead.
- Buffalo State went on to score eight of nine to retake the lead and eventually win the second set.
- The Bengals kept the offense pushing in the final set as they scored the final six points to secure the victory.
FOR THE FOES
- Channing Williams led Purchase with six kills.
