BUFFALO, NY – Gavin Wilczewski (Elma, NY/East Aurora) recorded 14 kills, while
Christopher Laboy (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Lafayette) chipped in 12 kills, to lead the Buffalo State men's volleyball team to a sweep over visiting Thiel on Wednesday evening in Houston Gymnasium.

- Wilczewski's 14 kills came on just 25 attempts with only one attack error for an exceptional .520 hitting percentage.
- Laboy tallied his 12 kills on a .409 hitting percentage.
- Jake Woelfel (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) added nine kills, while Kaden Strong (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca East) had five kills.
- Alex Nuez (Paterson, NJ/Eastside) recorded a match-high 11 digs.
- Jackson Stang (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) had two service aces, while also contributing 35 assists.
- The Bengals earned their fourth win of the year against an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent, the conference that Buffalo State will join next season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the opening set, led by three kills and an ace from Strong.
- The Tomcats fought back to within one point at 21-20, before Buffalo State closed the set with four straight points, a kill by Wilczewski and three attack errors by Thiel.
- Thiel led by as many as three early in the second set, and controlled a 13-12 lead midway through. Buffalo State went on a 7-0 run that included two kills by Woelfel, a pair of combo blocks from Stang and Strong, a kill by Wilczewski, and a clutch ace by George Muriel (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg).
- The Bengals' lead did not dip below five points the remainder of the set, and a kill by Laboy closed out the set.
- Tied at 19-19 in the third set, the Bengals rallied for four straight points, and six of the final seven points, as Muriel closed out the victory with a kill.
FOR THE FOES
- David Gonzalez and James Cromwell-Young each tallied seven kills for Thiel.
