BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team earned a double-header split this afternoon as they swept Houghton in three but fell to Elmira in five sets at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

- Jake Woelfel (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) led the Bengals with 15 kills while Chi Jackson (Buffalo, NY/Cheektowaga) tallied 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State dominated the opening set outscoring Houghton 10-6 to kick things off.
- Despite the Highlanders hanging tough, the Bengals scored six of the last eight points to take the first set.
- The Bengals offense took charge in the second set and cruised to an impressive 25-11 victory.
- The Highlanders fought to hang on in the final set and pushed the Bengals to the end.
- Despite the push, the Bengals tallied the last four points to secure the win.

- Elijah Sproull led the Highlanders with five kills while Gabreil Lucena had nine digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elmira dominated earlier in the first set jumping out to an 8-3 lead.
- Buffalo State attempted a late rally, however, the Soaring Eagles were able to keep the pressure on and win the first set.
- The Bengals jumped out early in the second set going on a 5-1 run.
- After a back-and-forth affair for much of the set, the Bengals scored three of the last four points to take the set.
- The Bengals offense dominated in the backend of the third set to go up two sets to one.
- Despite a strong start for the Bengals, the Soaring Eagles rallied late in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set.
- Elmira took control late in the fifth set scoring eight of the final 10 points to earn the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Edwin Sosa led Elmira with 27 kills.
- Max Cohen dished out 49 assists in the win.
