Women's Lacrosse Downed By Lycoming In Season Opener

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Buffalo State women's lacrosse team dropped their season opener against Lycoming College this afternoon with a 21-15 final at UPMC Field at Keiper Stadium.

  • Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) led the Bengals with six goals with four groundballs and 10 draw controls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Warriors jumped out early scoring the first three goals on the matchup.
  • The Bengals responded by scoring three of the next four goals, however, Lycoming would add two more to end the first quarter.
  • The Warriors went on a 6-1 run in the second quarter and led 13-6 heading into halftime.
  • After a trio of Warriors' goals to open the second half, Buffalo State responded with four unanswered to close the gap.
  • Despite a late push from the Bengals in the final quarter, Lycoming was able to hold on down the stretch and halt a Bengals comeback attempt.

 
FOR THE FOES

  • Riley Block led Lycoming with seven goals and a pair of assists.
  • Katie Maguire had 11 draw controls and six ground balls in the win.
