BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's lacrosse team fell to the visiting Utica Pioneers with a final score of 17-6 in their home opener tonight on Coyer Field.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North), Emilee Josker (Hamburg, NY/Frontier), and Brooklyn Hill (Six Nations, ON/McKinnon Park) each netted two goals for Buffalo State.
  • Willick also led the team with seven draw controls while Maddison Sage (East Syracuse, NY/East-Syracuse-Minoa) tallied three caused turnovers.
  • Moira Penot (Clifton Heights, PA/Upper Darby) and Brielle Lum (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) combined for nine saves in the effort.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State got the scoring started as Josker found the back of the net off a feed from Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore).
  • Utica responded with four answered goals to set the tone follow by each side adding another goal to finish the first.
  • The Pioneers offense erupted in the second quarter as they outscored Buffalo state 6-1.
  • Utica added a trio of goals in the third and held strong down the final minutes of action to secure the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Grace Stuhlman led the Pioneers with four goals and seven draw controls.
  • Maria Stuhlman and Samantha DeCondo each added three goals on their own.
