CLERMONT, FL – The Buffalo State softball team finished THE Spring Games on Saturday, winning the third game with a walk-off over Kalamazoo, and falling in the first two games of the day to Western New England and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
GAME THREE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 3, Kalamazoo – 2

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) earned her third win of the year, tossing a complete game while allowing just one earned run and striking out five batters.
- Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) went 2-for-3, scoring a pair of runs.
- Grace Albano (N. Tonawanda, NY/Niagara Wheatfield) drove in the game-winning run.
- Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) drove in a run and scored a run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets scored a run in the first inning, taking advantage of a Buffalo State error for an unearned run.
- Kalamazoo then scored a second run in the second inning on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 2-0.
- The Bengals tied the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning. Quagliana led off the inning with a double down the left field line and came around to score on Congelosi's RBI single to left. Kenzie Scott (Greene, NY/Greene) followed with another single to left to dive in Congelosi.
- In the top of the fifth inning, the Hornets threatened with a runner on third with one out. Katie Pyszczek (Elma, NY/St. Mary's of Lancaster) then made a spectacular diving catch on a ball in foul territory, and Pezdek got a strikeout on the next batter to escape the danger.
- After Pezdek stranded a pair of runners on base in the top of the seventh, the Bengals won with a walk-off in the bottom half of the inning.
- Quagliana led off with a single up the middle, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Sydney Shuta (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro) and over to third on a wild pitch. Albano then drove in the winning run with a fly ball to left center for a sacrifice fly.
FOR THE FOES
- Jordan Cook took the loss for the Hornets allowing three runs in 6.2 innings on the mound.
GAME TWO BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Wisconsin-Oshkosh – 6, Buffalo State – 5

RECORDS: Wisconsin Oshkosh (10-0), Buffalo State (4-6)
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Pyszczek went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for the Bengals.
- Mya Hurley (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Pezdek each drove in a pair of runs.
- Samantha Kelly (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) and Kenzie Scott had run-scoring hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Titans opened the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first inning on four hits and an error by the Bengals.
- Buffalo State responded by scoring five runs on six hits in the top of the second inning. Pyszczek led the inning off with a double down the left field line, and Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and Sam Schafer (Depew, NY/Lancaster) followed with a walk and a single to load the bases. Kelly then singled to the right side, Scott singled to deep right center, and Hurley and Pezdek followed with hits to drive in runs.
- Schnitzer then shut down Wisconsin-Oshkosh on the mound for the next three innings to keep the Bengals in the lead at 5-4 heading into the fifth.
- The Titans tied the game with a clutch two-out hit in the fifth inning.
- After the Bengals stranded a runner in scoring position in the top of the sixth, the Titans came through with another two-out rally to score the go-ahead run on an RBI double.
- Buffalo State got the potential tying run on base in the seventh, but couldn't get the run in.

- Hannah Ritter drove in the game-winning run for the Titans.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Bears scored two runs in the first on an RBI groundout and a solo home run, then tacked on a run in the second on a bloop single down the left field line to make it 3-0.
- Western New England broke the game open with 10 runs in the third inning with seven hits, while taking advantage of five walks and a hit batsman by Buffalo State pitching.
- The Golden Bears scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth inning to make it 15-0.
- Buffalo State put a pair of runners on base in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Bengals couldn't push a run across.
FOR THE FOES
- Riley Kane pitched four shutout innings for the win on the mound.
- Madison Mason had a double, homer, and drove in three runs.

The Bengals head back to New York tomorrow, and have a short break before beginning SUNYAC play at Brockport on April 5.
