ALFRED, NY – The Buffalo State women's lacrosse team found themselves back in the win column after a 17-8 victory over Alfred University in a non-conference matchup tonight at Yunevich Stadium.

- Sarah Fineour (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) and Lauren Rinow (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) each had four goals lead the Bengals offense.
- Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) added three goals and a team-high eight draw controls and four ground balls.
- Willick and Emilee Josker (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) each had three caused turnovers.
- Moira Penot (Clifton Heights, PA/Upper Darby) made eight saves in goal for the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State got the scoring started early with four unanswered goals to open the contest featuring a pair from Rinow and a pair from Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore)
- After Alfred got on the scoreboard late in the first, Willick kicked off the second with a free position goal.
- The Saxons went on to score three of the next five goals overall to cut the Bengals lead to just 7-4.
- The Bengals tacked on a pair of goals to close out the half thanks to Rinow and Malenne Vinueza (New York, NY/Frederick Douglas Academy).
- Buffalo State began to build some cushion with three unanswered goals coming out of halftime.
- Buffalo State was able to cruise the final minutes securing their lead and capping-off the win with Tiio Conners (Hogansburg, NY/Salmon River) netting her first goal as a Bengal.
- Buffalo State outshot the Saxons 42-20 while also taking the advantage in draw controls winning 19 compared to Alfred's 10.
FOR THE FOES
- Amelia Booth led the Saxons with five goals, four ground balls, and four draw controls.
- Alyssa Piechota made 12 saves in goal in the effort.
