FREDONIA, NY – After a seven goal third quarter and a late offensive surge from Fredonia, the Buffalo State women's lacrosse team earned a thrilling 13-11 SUNYAC win over the Blue Devils tonight at the University Stadium.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) led the Bengals offense with four goals in the victory.
- Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore) added three goals and four assists while Sarah Fineour (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) tallied four ground balls and Brooklyn Hill (Six Nations, ON/McKinnon Park) had four draw controls.
- Anastacia Wells (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) was a staple on the Bengals' defense with four caused turnovers.
- Moira Penot (Clifton Heights, PA/Upper Darby) and Brielle Lum (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) combined for six saves in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in what was a very competitive first quarter.
- The Blue Devils went on to score three of the next five goals overall before the Bengals added their fifth goal of the quarter from Emilee Josker (Hamburg, NY/Frontier).
- Fredonia added a pair to close out the quarter to even things 5-5.
- Both sides would play strong defense in the second quarter with just three goals scored in total.
- Running Rabbit tallied a free position goal before the Blue Devils added a pair before the half; giving Fredonia a 7-6 lead.
- The Bengals offense came out firing in the second half scoring seven unanswered goals in the third to take control with a 13-7 lead.
- Fredonia responded with four unanswered goals of their own in the fourth quarter.
- Following a Bengals timeout, the team was able to hold off a late surge from the Blue Devils to secure the win.
- With the win, Buffalo State evened the season long series at 11-11 with Fredonia in the annual "Battle by the Lake" standings. The two schools will be tied with each program's softball and outdoor track and field teams left to compete.
FOR THE FOES
- Victoria Burget and Noelle Mendez each had three goals for the Blue Devils.
- Ashleigh Manns made seven saves in the effort.
