Men's Volleyball Taken Down by St Joseph's

PATCHOGUE, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball dropped a three-set match to St. Joseph's on Friday evening to kick off the final road weekend of the year for the Bengals.

  • Chi Jackson (Buffalo, NY/Cheektowaga) was in double figures in kills for the fourth consecutive match, finishing with
  • Gavin Wilczewski (Elma, NY/East Aurora) tallied 10 kills of his own for the Bengals.
  • Alex Nuez (Paterson, NJ/Eastside) had nine digs for Buffalo State.
  • Jackson Stang (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) dished out 26 assists for Buffalo State.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals jumped out to an 8-6 lead after four straight points, including a kill by Jake Woelfel (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) and Jackson, as well as a combo block by Woelfel and Stang.
  • Buffalo State led 16-14, before St. Joseph's ended the set on an 11-3 run to take the set.
  • The Golden Eagles took an 11-4 lead in the second set, but the Bengals closed to within five points at 16-11 after kills by Wilczewski and Jackson, along with a service error by St. Joseph's. The Bengals could not get any closer, as the Golden Eagles won set two by a score of 25-15.
  • Buffalo State had a 10-9 lead in the third set after Wilczewski's kill, but the Golden Eagles closed the set on a 16-6 run to take the match.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Mark Williams had 11 kills to lead St. Joseph's.
  • CJ Johnson dished out 26 assists.
