GENESEO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road to Geneseo on Wednesday afternoon, losing 2-1 in game one and 9-2 in game two.
GAME ONE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Geneseo – 2, Buffalo State – 1

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) pitched 6.2 innings on the rubber, allowing just two unearned runs.
- Grace Albano (N. Tonawanda, NY/Niagara Wheatfield) went 1-for-3 and drove in a run for the Bengals.
- Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) also went 1-for-3, scoring Buffalo State's run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After two scoreless innings, the Bengals loaded the bases with one out, and Albano sent an RBI grounder to second base to give Buffalo State the 1-0 lead.
- The Knights knotted the score by taking advantage of a throwing error by the Bengals to score a runner from second base on a fly ball to right field.
- Mya Hurley (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) had back-to-back singles to lead off the sixth inning, but were stranded after a fielder's choice, and ground out, and a fly out.
- Geneseo walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh inning with another unearned run on a sacrifice fly to left field

- Kaitlyn Schmitz allowed just five hits and one unearned run on the rubber for Geneseo.
GAME TWO BASICS

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Parsons and Hurley each had a hit and scored a run.
- Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had a pair of hits, and drove in a run for the Bengals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights led 1-0 after an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning, but Buffalo State responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second to go in front.
- Hurley doubled to left center, advanced to third on Parsons' single, and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Quagliana. Schnitzer followed with a single down the right field line to drive in Parsons.
- Geneseo scored three runs, all with two outs, in the bottom of the third inning to retake the lead at 4-2.
- The Knights tacked on three unearned runs to take a 7-2 advantage after four innings.
- Buffalo State threatened in the fifth with a pair of runners in scoring position after hits by Schnitzer and Kenzie Scott (Greene, NY/Greene), but Geneseo thwarted the threat with Brooke Fraas making a solid play on a deflection off the pitcher's glove.
- Rebecca Schwartz homered in the sixth inning for the final two Geneseo runs.
- Sam Schafer (Depew, NY/Lancaster) and Erin Paolilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) each had pinch-hit singles in the seventh inning for Buffalo State, but the Bengals couldn't push across any more runs.

- Schwartz drove in a pair of runs and scored three more to lead Geneseo.
