BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team earned a pair of victories on Sunday afternoon over Plattsburgh, coming from behind to walk off game one by a 6-5 final score in eight innings, and hammering 14 hits in an 8-2 victory in game two. Due to unplayable conditions at the Softball Field, the contests were played at Color Park.
GAME TWO BASICS

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base for the Bengals.
- Katie Pyszczek (Elma, NY/St. Mary's of Lancaster) was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk, drove in a run and scored two more.
- Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) each had two hits and two RBIs. Lucas also earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs over five innings with five strikeouts.
- Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) drove in three runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals used a two-out hit by pitch and then an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- Buffalo State tied the score in the second inning, as Mya Hurley (Amherst, NY/Amherst) walked and came around to score on Lucas' double to deep right center.
- Another two-out RBI hit by the Cardinals gave Plattsburgh a 2-1 lead in the third.
- After Pyszczek and Parsons reached with hits and Quagliana walked to load the bases, Schnitzer sent a deep fly ball off the fence down the right field line to clear the bases and give Buffalo State the lead for good at 4-2.
- The Bengals tacked on four more runs in the fourth, as Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) singled and scored, while Pyszczek, Quagliana, and Lucas each had run-scoring hits in the inning.
- Plattsburgh threatened in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and nobody out, before Schnitzer snared a liner at third and turned an unassisted double play, and snagged another line drive a few pitches later.
- Emma Hooftallen (Round Hill, VA/Woodgrove) pitched a perfect seventh inning to secure the Bengals' win.

- Julia Golino went 3-for-4 and drove in a run to lead Plattsburgh.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals struck first in the top of the first inning with an RBI ground to lead 1-0, then doubled their advantage in the third inning on a sacrifice fly. hit by pitch and then an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- Plattsburgh took advantage of a pair of Buffalo State errors, scoring two unearned runs in the fourth to go ahead 4-0.
- Schnitzer drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning to drive in the first Buffalo State run, then Albano sent a two-out single up the middle to drive in two more runs.
- The Cardinals extended the lead to 5-3 in the top of the seventh on a single up the middle.
- Pyszczek singled in the bottom of the seventh and Parsons followed by ripping a double into the right field corner to put the tying run in scoring position.
- Quagliana sent a sacrifice fly to right field to score one run, and Hurley doubled to left center to bring in the tying run with two outs.
- Pezdek retired the side in order in the eighth inning.
- Erin Paolilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) led off the eighth with a pinch-hit single, and the winning run moved to third after a bunt single by Albano and a sacrifice by Congelosi. After Kenzie Scott (Greene, NY/Greene) walked, Pyszczek sent a deep fly ball to left center for a sacrifice fly and the walk-off win.
FOR THE FOES
- Sarah Isaacs had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Cardinals.
