BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team dropped a pair of SUNYAC contests to Cortland on Saturday afternoon, falling in game one by a score of 9-2, and losing game two 9-0.
GAME ONE BASICS

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was 2-for-3 with two runs driven in.
- Mya Hurley (Amherst, NY/Amherst) had a pair of hits and scored a run.
- Kenzie Scott (Greene, NY/Greene) and Caitlyn Parsons (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each went 2-for-4, with Parsons also scoring a run.
- Emma Hooftallen (Round Hill, VA/Woodgrove) pitched 6.0 innings of relief, allowing no earned runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Dragons struck for a pair of runs in the first inning, as Gina Meyers and Brooke Scheibe delivered RBI singles up the middle.
- Cortland tacked on two more runs in the second on a sacrifice fly and a botched rundown by the Bengals.
- Schnitzer got the Bengals on the board in the bottom of the second, shooting a single down the right field line to drive in Parsons.
- Cortland made it 5-1 on another sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
- Hurley led off the bottom of the sixth with a double to left field, and scored on Schnitzer's single up the middle. Cortland made a pitching change, and the next three batters were retired.
- Cortland scored five unearned runs in the seventh on just two hits, taking advantage of two Buffalo State errors to lead 9-2. The Bengals were unable to get anything going in their last at bat.
FOR THE FOES
- Makenna Barry earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing two runs. She also added a pair of hits at the plate.

RECORDS: Cortland (19-5, 9-3 SUNYAC), Buffalo State (13-12, 8-4 SUNYAC)
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) had the lone Buffalo State hit.
- Schnitzer pitched four innings of relief, allowing only one earned run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, Cortland scored six runs in the second on four hits and two Buffalo State errors.
- Quagliana singled to shortstop with one out in the second, put was stranded at first base.
- Cortland scored a run in the fourth inning, but Schnitzer pitched out of a bases loaded jam to limit the damage.
- In the sixth inning, the Red Dragons scored two unearned runs to go up 9-0, and the Bengals went down in order to fall by run rule.
FOR THE FOES
- Kim Westenberg threw a complete game for Cortland, allowing just the one hit and needing only 47 pitches to retire the Bengals. She also added two hits at the plate.
