BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team suffered a sweep at the hands of St. John Fisher in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at the Softball Field.
GAME TWO BASICS

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Grace Albano (N. Tonawanda, NY/Niagara Wheatfield) went 2-for-3 in game two, and drove in the lone Buffalo State run.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) pitched four shutout innings of relief for the Bengals.
- Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had a hit and score Buffalo State's run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the first two innings were scoreless, St. John Fisher struck for two runs in the third of Bengals' starting pitcher Izzy Pezdek.
- Buffalo State responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning, as Schnitzer led off with a single, advanced to second on a groundout, and came in to score on Albano's RBI single to right field.
- Lucas entered the game and immediately got into trouble by putting runners on second and third with nobody out, before inducing three straight groundouts to keep the Cardinals from scoring.
- Lucas once again stranded a runner on third by striking out the final two batters in the fifth inning.
- Buffalo State had the best opportunity to tie or take the lead in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and nobody out, but the runners were stranded after a 5-2-3 double play and a flyout.
- In the seventh inning, Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) led off with a single, but was erased on failed sacrifice bunt-turned double play and the Bengals were unable to tie the score.

- Cassidy Ormond pitched a complete game to earn the victory for the Cardinals.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Emma Hooftallen (Round Hill, VA/Woodgrove) tossed four innings of solid relief, allowing just one earned run.
- Kellogg went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Bengals with a run scored, while Albano was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
- Schnitzer scored the other Buffalo State run, while Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) had a hit and drove in a run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals scored eight runs in the first inning, including six unearned runs after two Buffalo State errors, to take a commanding lead after one.
- After St. John Fisher scored another run in the top of the second, Buffalo State got on the board with a single down the left field line by Congelosi to drive in Schnitzer.
- Albano sent a double to the gap in left center to drive in another run in the fourth inning.
- The Cardinals scored a run in the top of the sixth inning, and Buffalo State was kept off the board the rest of the way for the run-rule defeat in the sixth.

- Mari Spitz and Cassidy Evanetski each drove in two runs for the Cardinals.
