Laster Claims SUNYAC Title In Long Jump At Day One Of SUNYAC Championships

GENESEO, NY – Makhia Laster (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) picked up the win in the long jump to lead the Bengal women at the first day of SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by SUNY Geneseo.
 
For The Bengal Women
  • Laster's first jump of 5.80 meters was enough to secure the win and was also just .03 meters off the Buffalo State program record.
  • Laster also won the long jump during the indoor season at SUNYAC Championships.
  • Natalia Sawyer (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) will be the top seed in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles.
  • Her prelim time of 1:00.57 in the 400-meter hurdles is nearly six full seconds faster than the next closest competitor.
  • Laster will be seeded second heading into finals in the 100-meter and first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.95.
  • Jenna Raczka (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) will join Laster as the seventh seed in the 200-meter and will also be seeded third in the 400-meter as she looks to defend her SUNYAC Title in the event from last season.
  • The Bengal women currently sit tied for fifth with 10 points following five scoring events today.
