GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team dropped their season opener in four sets against Rowan in the first game of the Puerto Rico Trip.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Samantha Coakley (Lockport, NY/Lockport) led the Bengals with 17 kills while Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith) tallied 15.
- Eden Harrison (Sykesville, MD/Century) and Kate Rutigliano (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) each had four blocks.
- Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) dished out 43 assists, 17 digs, and a pair of service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State came out firing in the first set jumping out to a quick 12-1 lead.
- Rowan attempted to rally late but ultimately couldn't keep up as the Bengals scored the final two points of the set capped-off with an ace from Coakley.
- Rowan found their rhythm in the second set as they dominated much of the second set.
- The momentum carried into set three despite a late push from the Bengals who scored six of the finals nine points.
- Rowan was able to rally with six of the final nine points in the fourth set to secure the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Jena Kaul led Rowan with 19 kills.
- Vanessa Hutchinson had a match-high 22 digs.
