ROCHESTER, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team opened the University of Rochester Tournament tonight winning a five-set thriller against the Geneseo Knights in the Louis Alexander Palestra. This is the first time the women's volleyball team has beaten Geneseo since 2014.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Samantha Coakley (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith) each had 13 kills for the Bengals.
- Wittman and Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) each had a team-high 15 digs.
- Shaffer also added 38 assists and Wittman tallied four blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a competitive back-and-forth opening set, Geneseo was able to hold their lead and come away with the opening set win.
- The Knights continued to pressure the Bengals as they dominated early in the second set and held that lead through.
- Buffalo State bounced-back with a strong showing in the third set as the Knights had no way of gaining any momentum.
- After the Knights jumped out to an early lead in the fourth set, the Bengals eventually went on a 10-3 run to take the lead and force a decisive fifth set.
- Geneseo put pressure on Buffalo State in the final set, however, the Bengals clawed back scoring six of the final eight points to complete the comeback.
FOR THE FOES
- Madison Baumann led the Knights with 10 kills.
- Carolyn Mack had 15 assists and Zooey Gagnier had 22 digs to pace Geneseo.
