ROCHESTER, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team earned a split to close out the University of Rochester Tournament as they fell in three sets to Amherst before defeating Brockport in three sets at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

• Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith) led the Bengals with 12 kills and 13 digs.
• Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) dished out 13 assists while Kate Rutigliano (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) had a pair of blocks.
• Rutigliano was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After the Bengals jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, Amherst rallied back into the action.
• The Mammoths made a late set comeback as seven of the last nine points to take the opening set.
• Amherst came out firing in the second set with a quick 10-2 lead.
• Despite a late surge from the Bengals, the Mammoths scored six of eight to secure the set.
• Amherst took in early lead in the third set, and never looked back as they cruised to the three-set sweep.

 
FOR THE FOES

• Charlotte Rasmussen had 15 kills for the Mammoths
• Renee Liou had 39 assists.

• Samantha Coakley (Lockport, NY/Lockport) led the Bengals with 10 kills.
• Adi Vergara (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico/Kingdom Christian) had 12 digs while April Jakubowski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had 17 assists.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bengals dominated the opening set, going on multiple runs to earn the win.
• Buffalo State kept pushing early in the second set, however, the Golden Eagles went on a late run to take the lead.
• The Bengals found the momentum back on their side as they scored four of the final six points.
• With the score tied 6-6, the Bengals were able to go on an impressive 12-7 run to take control.
• Buffalo State closed out with five of the final six points to take the victory, their first against Brockport since 2013.

 
FOR THE FOES

• Alexis Sison had ten kills for Brockport.
• Kaitlyn Jewett tallied 18 assists.
