Men’s Soccer Dominates on the Road as Undefeated Streak Stays Alive

HOUGHTON, NY – The Buffalo State men's soccer team displayed their dominance, as they defeated the Houghton University Highlanders…keeping their undefeated season hopes alive.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Manu Prieto (Cascais, Portugal/Salesianos Do Estoril) led the team with one goal and one assist, while leading the Bengals with four shots on goal.  
  • Shae Wirt (Overland Park, KS/St. Thomas Aquinas) was a brick wall in net, completing a full-game shutout, his third of the season.
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals came out the gate in attack mode and it was proven to be successful as they went up 2-0 within the first 25 minutes of action, with Aney Djadou (Buffalo, NY/Amherst) and Diego Rivera (East Meadow, NY/Cairo Durham) hitting the back of the net.
  • The pressure continued for the Bengals as the first half came to an end, leading to a seven shot first half and their lead untouched as the first half whistles blew.
  • The Bengals stayed hot out of halftime, leading to a Sam Gregson (Anglesey, Wales/Ysgol David Hughes) in the 46th minute with two more goals late in second half play from Prieto and Dodou Ndow (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) to close out their clobbering of the Highlanders.
  • The Bengals outshot the Highlanders 17 to four with 12 shots on goal. 
 FOR THE FOES
  • John Fay, Samuel Edwards, Matthew Connolly and Caleb Bailey all had a shot for the Highlanders.
  • Edgar Diaz-Abascal and Marco Zanini split goalkeeping duties for the Highlanders and combined for six saves.
 UP NEXT
