Men’s Soccer Pickup First SUNYAC Win of the Season, with Undefeated Season Alive

POTSDAM, NY – The Buffalo State men's soccer team notched their first SUNYAC win of the season against the SUNY Potsdam Bears, keeping their undefeated season alive.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Adam Webster (York, England/Woldgate College) carried the Bengals with a stellar two-goal performance.  
  • Diego Rivera (East Meadow, NY/ Cairo Durham) put up a goal and an assist for the Bengals, extending his points streak to three straight games with a point.
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals arrived at Maxcy Turf Field with an early attack, but the ball wasn't in their favor early as the Bears scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute.
  • The Bengals would respond with THREE straight goals from Rivera, Webster and Nacho Caceres (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) to go into halftime with a 3-1 lead.
  • The Bengals had a tough fight as the second half started, with the Bears notching a goal in the 49th minute. The Bengals would battle for goal supremacy as Webster would answer with a goal in the 82nd minute but the Bears answered back with an 85th minute goal themselves. Luckily for the Bengals, strong defensive play finished the game, leading to their first SUNYAC win of the season…but most of all, their undefeated season hopes alive.
  • The Bengals out-shot the Bears 22 to seven, with 10 shots on goal. 
 FOR THE FOES
  • Kyan Tiede led the Bears with two-goals on two shots.
  • Lucas Schiel completed a full-game performance for the Bears with four saves in net.

The Bengals will return home, after a four-game road stretch, to take on SUNY Morrisville Wednesday, October 2nd at 4:00 P.M.
