HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a gut-wrenching victory over the Mustangs Tuesday night, the Bengals looked to carry their three-game winning streak into today's matchup against the Bears. In the opening quarter of play, things looked to get away from the Bengals as the Bears defense and sized hampered the attacking offensive style of the Bengals. The Bears would climb to a five-point lead, before the Bengals buckled down and got the game within three-points late in the quarter. As the first quarter came to a finish, the Bears would only be up four-points with the Bengals looking to takeover in the second.
  • The second quarter saw an improved effort from the Bengals, creating chances for themselves to get looks in the paint. Locking down the Bears, the Bengals would go on mini-runs, before taking a three-point lead within the last seconds of the quarter. Nevertheless, a Bears layup would go down before the second quarter buzzer rang and the Bengals would enter halftime with a one-point lead.
  • The third quarter would see the Bengals struggle the most, with the Bears responding well after the halftime rest. After multiple six-point runs from the Bears, the Bengals would see their lead change to a deficit, trailing by eight-points as the third quarter neared its finish. After some late free-throws, the Bengals would enter the fourth period down by six points, with a major finish needed.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Bengals came out strong…knocking down some big baskets and getting this game within two-points. However, the Bears would respond back, with a run of their own to extend their lead by 10-points. A back-and-forth quarter saw the Bengals bring the game within four-points again but unfortunately, it was too little, too late with the Bears going back up and taking this game from the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
  • Barbara Bruno led the Bears in points with 20, the most for all scorers in today's matchups. She also led all players in rebounds with 11 on the day.
