HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Picking up a win against the Cougars Friday night, the Bengals looked to complete the series sweep Saturday afternoon. As the first period began, the Bengals appeared to be heading the right direction, scoring a goal within the first three-minutes of play. Carrying the 1-0 lead through the first period, the Bengals would notch another goal at the ten-minute marker, going up 2-0 and taking firm control of this game early. As the period came to a close, the Bengals would head into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead. The Bengals outshot the Cougars, 17 to eight in the period.
  • The second period would see the Bengals continue their attack on the Cougars defense, outskating and outplaying the Cougars in the period. However, the Bengals effort wasn't rewarded with a goal, as the Cougars kept the Bengals off the scoreboard in the period, as did the Bengals defense. With one more period left of play and the game in their hands, the Bengals would enter the second intermission still holding onto their 2-0 lead. The Bengals outshot the Cougars 19 to 11 in the period.
  • In the third period, things would open up shaky for the Bengals, as the Cougars were able to get back-to-back goals within the six-minute mark of the period, tying the game at 2-2. As play would continue, the momentum would shift towards the Cougars, as they took the lead in the 11th minute mark of the third period before closing the game on an empty-net goal to steal this game from the Bengals hands. The Bengals outshot the Cougars 11 to 10 in the period.
FOR THE FOES
  • Klara Miuller led the Cougars with two goals in today's game, with Sophia Taylor and Chelsea Clark each scoring as well.
  • Lindsey Batz was stellar between the pipes, making 45 saves on 47 shots.
