ELMIRA, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team earned a split at the Elmira Tri-Match this afternoon as they fell in three sets to the host-Soaring Eagles before defeating King's College in four sets at Speidel Gymnasium.
GAME ONE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After jumping out to a 4-2 lead, the Soaring Eagles never lost the lead the rest of the first set despite a late push from the Bengals.
- Elmira dominated early in the second set jumping out to a quick 10-2 lead. The Soaring Eagles were eventually able to score the final four points to win the set.
- Another fast start in the third set propelled Elmira to a 17-7 start.
- The Soaring Eagles were able to hold off any threat of a Bengal comeback to secure the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Jordan Peiser had 15 kills while Max Cohen had 32 assists to lead the Soaring Eagles.

- Wilczewski paced the Bengals offense matching a career-high with 21 kills.
- Strong chipped in 10 kills of his own with a pair of blocks and a pair of digs.
- Jackson Stang (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) dished out 51 assists to break 1,000 assists for his career: the first Bengal to accomplish the feat in program history.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs started strong in the opening set, however, a late push from the Bengals led them to an opening set victory.
- The Monarchs bounced-back in the second set after a back-and-forth affair for much of it.
- The Bengals dominated late in the third set as they scored six of the final seven points to push the Monarchs.
- Five straight points in the final set was enough for the Bengals as they used to momentum to finish the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Logan Dougherty led King's with 15 kills in the effort.
- Ben Maskiell dished out 30 assists with four digs.
