Women’s Soccer Silences Mustangs at Home

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo State women's soccer team defeated the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs, 8-1, continuing their hot streak in SUNYAC play.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Willia Overton (Watertown, NY/Watertown) had a day on the field, scoring a hattrick for the Bengals, while adding an assist on the day. Kaylee Valentic (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) added two goals, with Emily Maczka (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) netting a goal and two assists. Lindsay DePietro (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Lilly Jaroszewski (El Paso, TX/Coronado) showed up on the scoring sheet, netting a goal each.  
  • In goal, Addy Williams (Grapevine, TX/Grapevine) completed a full-game, making two saves in net.
     
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After earning their first SUNYAC win of the season on the road against SUNY Potsdam, the Buffalo State Bengals returned to Coyer Field looking to secure their second conference victory, hosting the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs. The Bengals found themselves on their heels early, as the Mustangs struck first in the 27th minute to take the lead. Despite trailing, the Bengals continued to press offensively, and their persistence paid off when Valentic found the back of the net in the 36th minute to even the score. The teams headed into halftime deadlocked at 1-1.
  • Coming out of the break, the Bengals carried their momentum into the second half, creating multiple scoring opportunities. Their offensive pressure broke through in the 60th minute as they took the lead, and they never looked back. The Bengals erupted for six unanswered goals in a commanding second-half performance, cruising to a decisive win and their second SUNYAC victory of the season. 
FOR THE FOES
  • Ava Malin scored the lone goal for the Mustangs, with Jaidon Brodie picking up the assist.
  • Alyssa Denton played all 90 minutes for the Mustangs, making 11 saves in net.
UP NEXT
The Bengals will hit the road again, making their next stop at SUNY Canton to take on the Roos on Saturday, October 4th, at 1:00 p.m.
