HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a six-day break following a hard-fought Senior Day win over SUNY Canton, the Buffalo State women's volleyball team returned to action on the road for another SUNYAC matchup, taking on the Plattsburgh State Cardinals.
  • In the opening set, both teams traded points early before a three-point rally gave the Cardinals the upper hand. The Bengals responded late with a rally of their own to even the score, but a late four-point burst by the Cardinals secured the first set.
  • The second set saw both sides open strong, but the Bengals capitalized on several Cardinal miscues to grab an early advantage. The Bengals carried that momentum throughout the frame, closing on a five-point run to claim the second set.
  • In the third, the Cardinals came out firing, but the Bengals answered with a four-point rally and another three-point run to take control midway through. However, the Cardinals battled back, using a late surge of their own to edge out the Bengals and take the set.
  • The fourth set showcased the competitive spirit from both teams. After falling behind early, the Bengals fought back to even the score. The Cardinals momentarily pulled ahead again with back-to-back three-point runs, but the Bengals refused to quit. The Bengals capitalized on a late Cardinals error to spark a five-point rally and force a decisive fifth set.
  • In the fifth and final frame, the Bengals seized momentum early and never looked back. A dominant four-point run helped the Bengals take full control, closing out the set and securing their third SUNYAC victory of the season.
FOR THE FOES
  • Abby Iris Mulvey led the Cardinals with 17 kills, while Emily O'Brien led with 17 assists.
  • On the defensive side, Bridget Ryan led with 26 digs with Sanaia Estime making four block assists at the net.
