CORTLAND, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team fell to the Cortland Red Dragons this evening in their SUNYAC Opener at the Alumni Arena.

- Michael Marquez (Upland, CA/Yarmouth Mariners) paced the Bengals with a pair of goals.
- Jason Kwestel (Rockaway, NJ/Valley Wildcats) also scored while Aaron Andrade (Oakville, ON/Toronto Patriots) picked up a pair of assists.
- Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) and Ben Dardis (Pine Springs, MN/Olds Grizzlys) combined for 34 saves in goal in the effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides came through in the opening period. After an opening goal from Cortland, Kwestel and Marquez each scored to give Buffalo State an early 2-1 lead. The Red Dragons scored a power play goal late in the period to even the score at 2-2.
- After Marquez gave the Bengals the lead again, Cortland tied the game again and took the lead for good with a power play goal with less than one minute to go in the second period.
- The Red Dragons added a trio of goals in the third period to secure the win to open conference play.
- Cortland outshout Buffalo State 41-15 overall while also having a slight advantage on faceoffs with a narrow 35-32 edge.
FOR THE FOES
- Colby Seitz and Sam Christiano each had a goal and a pair of assists.
- Ronan Mobley and Shane Shelest combined for 12 saves in the win.
