HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After falling in their SUNYAC opener to the Cortland Red Dragons last night, the Bengals looked to rebound in their matchup with the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs.
  • The Bengals opened the first period strong, sustaining possession in the Mustangs' defensive zone and generating pressure around the net. The Mustangs produced chances of their own, but the Bengals countered effectively, keeping play tilted in their favor as both teams headed into the first intermission scoreless.
  • The second period mirrored the first, with the Bengals pushing consistently while the Mustangs generated occasional opportunities. After a seven-minute stretch of strong play, the Bengals were finally rewarded with the game's opening goal in the 19th minute, carrying a 1–0 lead into the second intermission.
  • In the third period, the Mustangs pressed for the equalizer while the Bengals searched for an insurance goal to secure the road win. A competitive frame saw the Mustangs create quality chances, and with an extra attacker on the ice in the final minute, the Mustangs found the tying goal to send the game to overtime.
  • In overtime, both teams earned power-play opportunities in pursuit of the game-winner, but neither could break through. The matchup ended in a 1–1 tie, with the Mustangs claiming the shootout decision.
FOR THE FOES
  • Maxim Maziarchuk scored the tying goal in this matchup for the Mustangs, with Connor Santay picking up the assist.
  • Chad Lowe made 47 saves between the pipes for the Mustangs.
