FREDONIA, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team earned a dominant SUNYAC victory over the Fredonia Blue Devils tonight with a 5-1 final at the Steele Hall Ice Arena

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk) netted a hat trick for the Bengals to lead the offensive effort.
  • Michael Marquez (Upland, CA/Yarmouth Mariners) picked up a goal and an assist while Austin Micale (Hamilton, NJ/Nashville Spartans) added a pair of assists in the win.
  • Ben Dardis (Pine Springs, MN/Olds Grizzlys) posted another strong showing in net making 25 saves.
  • Buffalo State also held the advantage in the faceoff circle at 31-26.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals got off to a quick start in the opening period as Kiriakov netted a power play goal to give Buffalo State an early 1-0.
  • Buffalo State scored a trio of goals in the second period. All on even strength opportunities as Marquez, Kiriakov, and Aaron Andrade (Oakville, ON/Toronto Patriots) each scored.
  • Late in the third period, Kiriakov netted his second power play goal of the evening to secure his first hat trick as a Bengal.
  • After a small scuffle resulted in a pair of roughing penalties on each side,  Hudson Cameron scored for the Blue Devils to prevent the shutout.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Owen Cross and Keenan McNeill earned the assists on Fredonia's goal while Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 22 saves in the effort.
 
UP NEXT
The Bengals return to action on December 2 as they travel to Hiram for a non-conference matchup with the Terriers.
