HOW IT HAPPENED

• Hosting their last matchup of 2025, the Bengals looked to head into the holiday season in a joyful mood as they sought a non-conference win over the Houghton University Highlanders.
• In the opening quarter, the Bengals started hot, netting some early threes while keeping pace with the Highlanders' hot shooting. A back-and-forth quarter saw the Bengals hold their ground against the Highlanders' run-and-gun pace, while forcing stops as they could. A buzzer-beater from the Highlanders would give them an advantage by four points, as both teams looked to the second quarter.
• In the second quarter, the Bengals would fall behind double-digits, as the Highlanders opened the quarter on a 9-0 run. The Bengals kept the fight going, creeping back in this matchup and closing the half strong, cutting their deficit to single digits.
• Exiting the halftime break, the Bengals would find themselves behind a surge from the Highlanders, whose hot shooting increased their lead back to double digits after an 11-0 run. Another high-scoring quarter from both sides would find the Bengals facing a large deficit heading into the last quarter of play.
• In the fourth, the Bengals kept their will in this matchup, even as shots failed to fall.
