HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 12-day break following a tough SUNYAC loss to the Oswego State Lakers, the Bengals returned to the ice with a Rt. 5 road trip to face the Hilbert College Hawks.
- In the opening period, the Bengals flexed their muscle, overpowering the Hawks and living in their defensive zone. They broke through with a goal in the ninth minute, then tacked on two more late in the frame to take a commanding three-goal lead into the first intermission.
- The second period mirrored the first, though credit to the Hawks' defense for standing tall and slowing the Bengals' attack. Hilbert generated a few looks in the Bengals' zone, but the Bengals held firm to preserve the shutout. A late goal in the 14th minute extended the Bengals' lead to four heading into the second intermission.
- In the third period, the Bengals kept their foot on the gas, maintaining pressure in the Hawks' zone and adding their fifth tally in the 15th minute before cruising to a dominant five-goal shutout victory.
FOR THE FOES
- In net, Jewely Monford made 51 saves for the Hawks.
