Men's Hockey Falls Short In Overtime Effort With Plattsburgh

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team fell short in a 4-3 overtime effort against the Plattsburgh Cardinals this evening at the Ice Arena.

  • Aaron Andrade (Oakville, ON/Toronto Patriots), Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk), and Drayton Todoroff (Jackson, MI/Amarillo Wranglers) all scored for the Bengals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Plattsburgh got the scoring started in the first period. Just two minutes later, Todoroff scored to even the score at 1-1.
  • The Cardinals responded immediately and scored 18 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Bengals responded just over 30 seconds later to tie the game again as Andrade kept his strong start to the season going.
  • Less than one minute into the second period, the Cardinals struck again to retake the late.
  • Kiriakov netted the game-tying goal later in the period to eventually force overtime.
  • Vlad Pshenichnikov scored the game-winning goal for Plattsburgh in overtime.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Aarib Catron had a goal and an assist and Beau Lane made 24 saves in net in the win.

The Bengals return to action next weekend as they head to Trine for a pair of non-conference matchups to close out the semester.
