INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Morgan Popp (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) led the Bengals in scoring with 13 points, with Mya Brown (Buffalo, NY/Frontier) adding 12 points each in support.
  • On the glass, Brown led the Bengals with eight rebounds, while Haymon led the Bengals with seven assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After falling in their SUNYAC opener against the SUNY Potsdam Bears yesterday, the Bengals looked to rebound in their matchup with the Plattsburgh State Cardinals.
  • The opening quarter saw both teams trade baskets, but it was the Bengals who claimed the early advantage, building a five-point lead. As play continued, Plattsburgh closed the gap and ended the quarter on a 7-0 run, sending the Bengals into the second quarter trailing by two.
  • Early in the second quarter, the game remained competitive, with both teams exchanging the lead behind strong Bengals play. However, increased defensive pressure and a cold shooting stretch allowed the Cardinals to put together a 10-0 run, pushing the Bengals into a double-digit deficit at halftime.
  • Coming out of the break, the Bengals found new life, opening the third quarter on a 9-0 run to pull within a single possession. Although the Cardinals responded to rebuild their lead, the Bengals held their ground and entered the final quarter down eight.
  • In the fourth, the Bengals looked to spark another surge as they had earlier, but shots simply wouldn't fall. A low-scoring frame from both sides favored the Cardinals, who stretched their lead back to double digits as the Bengals ultimately fell short in this tough SUNYAC matchup.
FOR THE FOES
  • Kaelyn Morgan led the Cardinals with 16 points.
  • Imani Walcott led the Cardinals with seven rebounds, while Kayla Johannesen led with five assists.
