HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Coming off an emotional, hard fought win last night against the New Paltz Hawks, the Bengals welcomed the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons into the Sports Arena with high hopes in continuing their winning ways. As the first quarter began, the Bengals would find themselves down a mini hole, with the Red Dragons taking an 11-5 lead in the midway point of the quarter. A strong Bengals finish to the quarter helped ease the tension, heading into the second quarter down two points.
  • The second quarter would see the Red Dragons attempt to extend their lead over the Bengals, but strong defense and solid shot-making kept the Bengals with arm's length of the Red Dragons. This would lead to a 7-0 run from the Bengals late in the quarter and taking the lead into halftime up 30-29 over the Red Dragons.
  • In the third quarter, both teams would battle for the driver's seat of this game, with each team trading baskets throughout the quarter. As the quarter would finish, the Bengals and the Red Dragons would find themselves tied at 45-45, with the fourth quarter being the deciding factor.
  • As the Bengals would take an early lead in the fourth quarter, the Red Dragons would respond with a resounding 11-0 run to take a nine-point lead over the Bengals. As much as the Bengals fought to bring this game back to a tie, it would prove to be too much as the Red Dragons would close out this game taking down the Bengals by 13-points.
FOR THE FOES
  • Emma Schwarzbeck and Amanda Zuntang led the Red Dragons in scoring with 16-points each.
  • Zuntang would also finish the game with a 'double-double' performance, pulling down 10 rebounds.
