HOW IT HAPPENED
- Heading into tonight's matchup with the Mustangs, the Bengals looked to complete the season sweep, this time on the road in Morrisville. In the beginning of the first quarter, the Mustangs started hot from the three-point arc, netting back-to-back-to-back threes on the Bengals. The Bengals would respond with a 5-0 run to bring this game within one-point but a strong finish of the quarter saw the Mustangs head into the second quarter up by four-points on the Bengals.
- In the second quarter, both teams came out more aggressive in the offensive department, with each team trading baskets early in the quarter. However, things would tip in the Mustangs favor, as they would hold the Bengals with strong defense and once again finish the quarter out strong…going into halftime with a seven-point lead over the Bengals.
- Coming out of halftime, both teams once again showed off their offensive talents as baskets were traded early and often. While the Mustangs would extend their lead to double-digits, the Bengals would fight back with a 7-0 run, bringing this game within a three-point deficit. While the Mustangs would answer back with a 6-0 run of their own, it would be the Bengals who would finish the quarter out in strong fashion, heading into the fourth quarter down four-points.
- In the fourth quarter, baskets would become a premium…as both defenses began to tighten up on their ends. While good news for the Mustangs, this would end up being bad news for the Bengals who would struggle to bring this game within a tie. As both teams would trade free-throws late in the quarter, the Mustangs would go on to hold onto their lead, taking down the Bengals by five-points.
