  • Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/HoneyBaked Detroit) kept the Bengals in this game, making 40 saves on 42 shots. Auge's performance today has clinched #3000 for career saves in the Buffalo State Women's Hockey program as well!!
  • The Bengals were outshot by the Cardinals 42 to 22, while winning 14 faceoffs from the circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After dropping their first game against the Lakers last night, the Bengals looked to today's matchup as confidence boost in hanging with a ranked opponent. In the first period, things looked like last night's performance, with the Lakers getting on the board on the Power-Play. Credit to the Bengals, who kept the fight against the Lakers, holding them goalless for the remainder of the period and entering the first intermission down a lone goal.
  • In the second period, both teams would battle it out, as early play leaned in the Bengals favor before a late attack from the Lakers saw the Bengals holding on in the defensive end. Overall, team play was the theme of the period as neither team were able to 'light the lamp', with the Bengals entering the second intermission still down 1-0.
  • In the third period, the Bengals struggled to hold the Lakers out their offensive zone, as the Lakers attacked the Bengals throughout the period. However, Auge and the Bengals kept the Bengals in this game as long as they could in the 19th minute of play, the Bengals were able to finally get on the board, tying the game at 1-1…and leading to overtime!
  • In overtime, the Bengals had a couple of chances to score the game-winning goal but unfortunately, it wasn't their night as the Lakers would score the game-winning goal and taking the win over the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lauren Schell led the Lakers with two-goals in this matchup.
  • Lexi Levy got the win in net, making 21 saves on 22 shots.
