HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Celebrating 'Senior Day' in tonight's rivalry matchup against the Blue Devils, the Bengals looked to score a big win, not only for their seniors but for themselves in their home season finale. To begin the first quarter, the Bengals let the 'Senior Day' emotions get the best of them, going down early 10-2. While the Bengals attempted to play "catch-up" with the Blue Devils throughout the quarter but would find themselves down nine-points as the first quarter ended.
  • In the second quarter, the Bengals would get on the board early, chipping their deficit down to six-points, but the Blue Devils would maintain their grasp on the lead with tough defense and quick offensive chances. With the final seconds of the first half ticking away, the Bengals would find themselves down double-digits heading into halftime.
  • Opening the second half, the Bengals would develop some answers to the Blue Devils attacking defense, scoring in transition while forcing the Blue Devils to hold onto the ball and force tough shots on the defensive end. This newfound life of the Bengals would propel them to bring their deficit down to four-points midway in the third quarter. While the Blue Devils were able to respond with back-to-back tip-in baskets, the Bengals did enough damage to trail into the fourth quarter by seven-points.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Bengals kept the fight going with an 8-0 run to get within two-points of the Blue Devils. However, the Blue Devils would answer with an 8-0 run of their own, before ending the game on a 5-0 run and dropping the Bengals on their 'Senior Day' in the 'Battle by the Lake' rivalry game.
