CLERMONT, FL – The Buffalo State softball team opened their season this afternoon at THE Spring Games with matchups against Augsburg and Geneseo.
GAME ONE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg – 6, Buffalo State - 3

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Cam O'Hara (Troy, NY/Catholic Central) and Mya Hurley (Williamsville, NY/Amherst) each tallied a hit and an RBI in the effort.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) pitched four innings for the Bengals while striking out three batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first after O'Hara doubled and Hurley brought her name with a base hit.
- In the fourth, Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) gave the Bengals another run with an RBI single to give Buffalo State a 3-0 lead.
- Augsburg immediately responded with a four-run top of the fifth innings to take the lead.
- The Auggies added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth before securing the final outs for the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Morgann Paaske pitched seven innings with eight strikeouts.
- In the batter's box, Paaske also had two hits and two RBIs.
GAME TWO BASICS

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Kellogg had a pair of RBI in the effort for the Bengals.
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) got the start for the Bengals going 5.1 innings and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo got the scoring started with one run in the second inning.
- Both sides would remain in a stalemate until the fourth inning. With runners on the corner, the Ella Stewart (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) was able to draw a throw to first with Grace Albano (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) racing for the plate to score.
- After an insurance run for the Knights, the Bengals clawed back late with a two-run single from Kellogg to cut the lead to just one.
- Geneseo was able to secure the final out and haul the Bengals' comeback effort.
FOR THE FOES
- Bella Nadzan had two RBI for the Knights.
- Kaitlyn Schmitz pitched 6.1 innings for Geneseo and struck out three.
