Softball Splits Friday Action With Worcester State And Wisconsin River-Falls

CLERMONT, FL – The Buffalo State softball team earned another split at THE Spring Games this afternoon as they defeated Worcester State before falling to Wisconsin River-Falls in extra innings.
 
GAME ONE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 5, Worcester State – 2
LOCATION: THE Spring Games – Clermont, FL
RECORDS: Buffalo State: 3-6 (0-0 SUNYAC), Worcester State: 5-4 (0-0 MASCAC)
 
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Grace Albano (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) paced the Bengals with a pair of RBI.
  • Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) and Cam O'Hara (Troy, NY/Catholic Central) each had three hits for Buffalo State.
  • Lucas also picked up her first win of the season on the mount going five innings allowing two runs on five hits.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals got the scoring started in the fourth inning after a base hit from Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls).
  • The Lancers responded immediately with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
  • In the fifth inning, the Bengals rallied for two more runs thanks to a triple from Ella Stewart (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and a base hit from Lucas.
  • After another run for the Lancers in the bottom half of the inning, Albano laced a two-run single to right field in the sixth to give the Bengals some insurance.
  • Gianna Core (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) pitched the final two innings and was perfect to help secure the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Morgan Keefe and Abigail Koziol each had an RBI for the Lancers.
  • Taylor Coonan got the start earning a no-decision pitching 4.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Albano and O'Hara each had two hits apiece while Stewart added a three-hit performance.
  • Mya Hurley (Williamsville, NY/Amherst) had three RBI in the effort.
  • Jean Rogers (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) got the start for Buffalo State going the first two innings before Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) came in for five innings of relief striking out four.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons got the scoring started with three runs across the first two innings.
  • Buffalo State erupted for four runs in the fifth inning. After Albano scored on an error, Hurley laced a bases-clearing three-run double to even the score.
  • Wisconsin-River Falls tallied a sac fly in the seventh to even the score and force extra innings.
  • In the top of the eighth, the Falcons scored a pair of runs. Buffalo State threatened in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to finish the late rally.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Kayla Dolan posted a pair of hits and knocked in two runs.
  • Alexa Dusterhof earned the win on the mound going 4.2 innings giving up just four hits.

The Bengals are in action tomorrow for the final day of THE Spring Games with matchups against Farmingdale and Colby.
