 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Just one night removed from a gritty conference battle against Penn State Altoona, the Buffalo State Bengals were back in action, this time, a tri-match squaring off against the AMCC foe, the Mount Aloysius College Mounties. From the first serve, both squads came out firing, trading points in a tightly contested opening stretch. The Mounties pieced together a brief rally to pull ahead, but the Bengals weren't fazed—storming back with a six-point surge to flip the script. A late three-point burst tied things up, and with the momentum firmly in their corner, the Bengals slammed the door with a four-point run to capture the first set in convincing fashion.
  • In the second set, the Mounties came out swinging. A quick four-point rally set the tone as they seized control early. The Bengals battled back, rattling off five straight points to claw back into the set, but the Mounties refused to let up. Using execution and timely responses, the Mounties held off a Bengals' late push and stealing the second set to even the match.
  • Set three brought an intensity you'd expect from two hungry conference opponents, with both benches creating a competitive but fun atmosphere inside the Sports Arena as the teams' traded blows. But it was the Bengals who blinked first—in the best way—capitalizing on a three-point run to gain some breathing room. The Mounties made a late charge, tightening the gap, but the Bengals remained poised down the stretch, shutting the door to take the set and move one step closer to victory.
  • With momentum on their side, the Bengals entered the fourth set ready to finish the job. The Mounties struck first, stringing together an early rally to take a short-lived lead. But the Bengals responded with purpose, matching the energy and trading rallies before finding their groove. A powerful six-point explosion gave the Bengals all the cushion they needed. From there, they controlled the pace, outlasting the Mounties and sealing four-set win in AMCC play.
FOR THE FOES
  • Matthew Franz and Andew Wlodarczyk led the Mounties with ten-kills each.
  • Defensively, Colby Whiteside led with three-blocks for the Yellow Jackets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Riding high after a four-set win over the Mount Aloysius Mounties, the Buffalo State Bengals turned their focus to closing out the tri-match with one more win against the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes. The opening set was a battle from the first whistle, with both teams trading blows and vying for control. But it was the Bengals who found their rhythm first, stringing together a pair of crucial three-point rallies to break away late. With momentum fully on their side, the Bengals powered through the final stretch to take the first set and set the tone for the match.
  • The second set saw the Golden Tornadoes come out with renewed energy, storming to an early lead behind a four-point burst. The Bengals, however, didn't blink. Trailing midway through the set, they regrouped and responded with a gutsy five-point rally to erase the deficit and bring the set level. As both teams battled toward that coveted 25-point mark, it was once again the Bengals who dug deep and delivered in the clutch—slamming the door to take a 2–0 lead and put themselves on the brink of a sweep.
  • With the sweep in sight, the third set was a true tug-of-war. Neither side gave an inch early on, trading points in a thrilling back-and-forth. But the Bengals found just enough daylight, using a timely three-point run to carve out a lead. The Golden Tornadoes threatened with a late push, closing the gap and putting pressure on the Bengals. But when it mattered most, the Bengals responded with ice in their veins—ripping off another three-point rally to seal the set, the sweep, and a perfect 2–0 day in their latest tri-match.
FOR THE FOES
  • Andrew Ubinger led the Golden Tornadoes with 12-kills, with Colton Alfaro would lead with 22-assists.
  • Joshua Sangrey led the Golden Tornadoes defensively with 16-digs, while Evan Puhl led with two blocks.
