Women's Lacrosse Earns Conference Win Over SUNY Canton

CANTON, NY – The Buffalo State women's lacrosse team earned a 10-7 victory over SUNY Canton this afternoon at the SUNY Canton Turf.

  • Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore) paced the Bengals offense with six points on three goals and three assists.
  • Emilee Josker (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) and Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) each had three goals for Buffalo State.
  • Josker also tallied five ground balls, three draw controls, and a caused turnover.
  • Kira Grzechowiak (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) was strong on defense with five caused turnovers to lead Buffalo State.
  • In goal, Brielle Lum (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) made nine saves to earn the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State got the scoring started early with five unanswered goals in the first.
  • After the Roos got on the board, Running Rabbit scored to give the Bengals a 6-1 lead.
  • Canton slowly clawed back into the action with back-to-back goals in the second. The Roos outscored the Bengals 4-2 in the quarter as Buffalo State led 8-5 at halftime.
  • Coming out the break, both sides were stay strong on defense as each team only scored once in the third.
  • It would be the same results in the fourth as Lum would make a trio of saves down the stretch to help the Bengals secure the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Maddy Caron had a goal and a pair of assists for Canton.
  • Olivia Scott made ten saves in goal in the effort.
 
UP NEXT
The Bengals return to action on Wednesday as they will host Morrisville for another SUNYAC matchup.
