HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Riding a six-game win streak, the Buffalo State Bengals faced a tough challenge in their latest matchup against the New Paltz Hawks. The opening quarter didn't go in the Bengals' favor, as the Hawks jumped out to an early lead. That lead would grow quickly, with the Hawks netting four unanswered goals to close out the first quarter, putting the Bengals in a five-goal hole heading into the second.
  • The Hawks struck again to open the second quarter, but the Bengals finally found some offensive rhythm, netting their first goal to spark a brief rally. After the Hawks tallied their seventh goal of the day, the Bengals responded with two late-quarter scores, trimming the deficit to four heading into the half.
  • Despite some momentum entering the third, it was the Hawks who came out firing. The Hawks dominated the quarter, pouring in five goals while holding the Bengals scoreless, pushing the deficit to nine goals entering the final frame.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Bengals showed fight, notching two more goals, but the Hawks remained in control, adding three of their own to seal the game. The Bengals' comeback hopes fell short, as they dropped their first SUNYAC contest of the season.
FOR THE FOES
  • Kaitlyn Shaw led the Hawks with six-points, which included five-goals and an assist, while Lexi Atwater added four-goals in today's matchup.
  • Piper Mascaros and Gabriella Tommaso split time in net, with Mascaros leading with three-saves.
