HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following their first SUNYAC loss of the season, the Buffalo State Bengals looked to regain control with the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons visiting Coyer Field. The Bengals came out strong in the opening quarter, scoring four unanswered goals. Although the Red Dragons responded with two goals in a two-minute span, the Bengals answered right back with three more, taking a five-goal lead into the second quarter.
- The second quarter saw a rise in intensity, with both teams battling for momentum. After the Bengals pushed their lead to six, the Red Dragons mounted a comeback with four unanswered goals, cutting the deficit and making it a game heading into halftime.
- The Red Dragons picked up right where they left off, tying the game midway through the third quarter. The Bengals responded with urgency, piecing together a four-goal rally to reclaim control. The Red Dragons kept the pressure on, scoring two late goals, but Buffalo State countered with two of their own to enter the fourth quarter up by four.
- In the fourth, the Bengals struggled to close the door. The Red Dragons capitalized with back-to-back goals and continued to chip away at the lead. After tying the game once more, Buffalo State briefly pulled ahead with a goal at the five-minute mark—only for the Red Dragons to respond again, forcing overtime in a back-and-forth SUNYAC clash.
- In overtime, the Red Dragons seized the momentum, forcing a Bengals turnover and scoring the golden goal to hand Buffalo State its first home loss of the season and second SUNYAC defeat.
