HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hosting their annual "Team Molly Game," the Buffalo State Bengals aimed to bounce back from their heartbreaking overtime loss to SUNY Oneonta. However, their next test was a tough one against the Cortland Red Dragons. The Red Dragons came out firing, opening the first quarter with five unanswered goals. The Bengals responded late in the quarter with back-to-back scores, but the Red Dragons tacked on another to carry a four-goal lead into the second.
  • In the second quarter, the Bengals briefly halted the Red Dragons' surge with an early goal, but the Red Dragons continued to dominate possession and the scoreboard. The visitors rattled off four unanswered goals before the Bengals added a late score before halftime, trailing by seven at the break.
  • The Bengals opened the third quarter with a quick goal to spark momentum, but the Red Dragons answered with two of their own to keep the Bengals at bay. Despite the deficit, the Bengals showed their best pace of play in the third, adding another goal late while holding the Red Dragons scoreless for the remainder of the quarter. Entering the fourth down by seven, the Bengals looked to rally.
  • Unfortunately, the comeback hopes were dashed as the Red Dragons reasserted control in the final frame, outscoring the Bengals 6-1 to close out the contest, dropping the Bengals at home in their latest SUNYAC battle.
FOR THE FOES
  • Nicole Iapoce led the Red Dragons with eight points, scoring four goals and adding four assists.
  • Trinity Parks got the win for the Red Dragons in net, making six saves in 53 minutes of action.
