BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State softball team split their matchup with the Cortland Red Dragons this evening in a SUNYAC matchup on the Softball Field.
GAME ONE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 10, Canton – 4

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Ella Stewart (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) paced the Bengals with three hits each and a pair of RBI.
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) had a pair of hits, two RBI, and two runs scored.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) went the distance on the mound striking out five while allowing four earned runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Each side traded in a run in the opening inning.
- Cortland took the lead in the third inning after a base bit.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Bengals erupted for four runs as Pezdek, Quagliana, and Stewart each knocked in runs. Buffalo State took the lead after Quagliana's single.
- After Pezdek drove in another run in the fifth, the Bengals rallied for four more runs in the sixth to add to their lead.
- The Red Dragons threatened in the seventh, but Buffalo State was able to get the final out to snap Cortland's nine-game win streak against the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
- Kaeli McAnally and Maggie Cummings each had a pair of hits for Cortland.
- McKenna Barry took the loss on the mound going four innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits.
GAME TWO BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Cortland – 3, Buffalo State – 2 (Innings)

RECORDS: Cortland: 13-13 (9-1 SUNYAC), Buffalo State: 16-12 (10-2 SUNYAC)
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Stewart and Quagliana each picked up two more hits.
- Pezdek launched her third home run of the season. She also pitched all nine innings allowing one earned run with seven strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pezdek got the scoring started with a solo homer in the second inning. The Bengals pushed another run across later in the inning after an error from Cortland.
- The Red Dragons responded with a pair of runs in the fifth after a wild pitch from the Bengals.
- Cortland scored the go-ahead run in the ninth inning before sitting down the Bengals 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Gianna Endieveri went all nine innings allowing seven hits with 11 strikeouts.
- Shannon Scotto had the RBI single for Cortland in the ninth inning.
