HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a gritty SUNYAC split with the Cortland Red Dragons, the Buffalo State Bengals hit the road for a nonconference doubleheader against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets. The opener began as a pitching duel, with both teams held scoreless through the first two innings behind strong defensive efforts.
- The Yellowjackets broke the deadlock in the bottom of the third, taking a 1-0 lead. After the Bengals were retired, 1-2-3, in the top of the fourth, the Yellowjackets added to their advantage with a three-run surge in the bottom half, extending their lead to 4-0.
- The Bengals offense couldn't find a spark, as they were shut out for the remainder of the game, dropping the first half of the twin bill, 4-0.

- Burck and Gigi Martinez (Chicago, IL/Whitney M. Young) both tallied a hit for the Bengals.
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) pitched the full game for the Bengals, striking out two batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to bounce back in game two, the Bengals aimed to crack a tough Yellowjackets squad known for its strong pitching and defense. The second game turned into a classic pitcher's duel, with both teams combining for just four hits through the first four innings.
- With the game still scoreless and two innings to play, the Bengals hoped to secure a shutout win behind a solid outing from Pezdek. Though the Bengals couldn't plate a run in the top of the fifth, they held the Yellowjackets in check through the bottom half, then followed it with a quick 1-2-3 inning in the sixth.
- But the Yellowjackets finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth with a single, a stolen base, and a double to bring home the game's only run. The Bengals were unable to answer in their final at-bat, falling in a narrow 1-0 loss and getting swept in the non-conference doubleheader.
