BUFFALO, NY – Bryan Honan (Cortland, NY/Cortland) of the Buffalo State track and field team and Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) of the Buffalo State women's lacrosse team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week presented by UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
 
Honan, a freshman mechanical engineering major, broke his own school record with a mark of 54.14 meters in the hammer throw this past weekend at the St. John Fisher Invite. Good for third overall, Honan currently sits eighth in the AARTFC Region in the event as well as third in the SUNYAC.
 
The track & field team returns to action this weekend as they will travel to Cortland for SUNYAC Championships.
 
Willick, a junior childhood education major, continued her dominant season propelling the Bengals to their first postseason win since 2012. In the win over Oneonta, Willick tallied eight points with six goals and two assists while also posting four ground balls, nine draw controls, and a pair of caused turnovers.
 
The women's lacrosse team returns to action tomorrow as they will travel to Oswego for the SUNYAC Semifinals.
