BUFFALO, NY – Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and
Lauren Rinow (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) of the Buffalo State women's lacrosse team have been named SUNYAC Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week for their respective performances last week.
Willick was impressive in a pair of SUNYAC wins over Morrisville and Potsdam last week. In the win over the Mustangs, Willick tallied eight goals, an assist, six ground balls, and eight draw controls. In the win over the Bears, Willick added eight more goals, three assists, three ground balls, 11 draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Willick helped the Bengals reach their best record in conference play since 2009.
Rinow was a staple for the Buffalo State defense this past week as they stayed unbeaten in conference play. In the win over the Mustangs, Rinow had six points with two goals and four assists while also adding five ground balls, five draw controls, and a season-high five caused turnovers. In Saturday's win over Potsdam, Rinow added five goals with six ground balls, three draw controls, and three more caused turnovers.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday as they will battle Fredonia in another SUNYAC matchup.
